"The Śūraṅgama Sūtra" says: If the mind can transform the influence of things on the mind, it is Buddha. If things can affect the state of the mind, it is ordinary people.
King BoSiNi asked his queen ShengMan: "Is there any person you love more than yourself?" Queen ShengMan said, "There is no one person I love more than loving myself. How about you, lord?" King BoSiNi said: "Me too. There is no one that I love more than myself.” Later, King BoSiNi told this conversation to Buddha Shakyamuni, and the Buddha said: "Even if a man seeks in all directions, he could not find a thing that he loves more than himself. All sentient beings love themselves. For this reason, those who love themselves (and should know that other sentient beings are the same as themselves) should not harm other sentient beings."-"The King Sutra "
"Causes of the Origins" says: When our world was just formed, all human beings descended from the heaven of light and sound, flew in the air, and were born without being pregnant in the womb. After eating rice, there will be muscles, veins and marrow, forming the shape of men and women, and lust will arise from then on.
The things in the world can be summed up as the four types of earth, water, fire, and wind. These are called the four great powers, and human beings end up forming a body formed by the aggregation of great energy. Flesh is the earth, tears, tears, sputum and saliva are water, heating is fire, exercise is wind.
Four kinds of lives refer to viviparous birth, oviparous birth, wet birth and transformed birth. All human beings are viviparous birth. The six realms refer to heaven, human beings, asuras, hells, ghosts, and animals.
Human beings are not necessarily viviparous. They are born due to karma traction and conditions. They are not necessarily human beings. They are born by karma traction and conditions! Your name is the temporary name when you fell to be born into this life. Your home is the temporary residence of this life moments.
"Fa Yuan Zhulin" says that there are ten moments for human beings, first is thin film, second is blisters, third is pustules, forth is fleshy, fifth is limbs, sixth is a baby, seventh is a boy, and eighth is when you are a teenager, ninth is when you are strong and tenth is when you are old.
Human face is like terrain
"The Cause of the World Sutra" says that our world is seven thousand Yojana, wide in the north and narrow in the south, so our face shape is like terrain.
Beiju Luzhou has a square terrain, so the human face is square; Dongsheng Shenzhou has a round terrain, so the human face is also round; Xiniuhuozhou looks like a half-moon, so the human face here is bumpy and small size of the back of the head. It can be deduced from this that the bird lives on the tree, so its feathers resemble a tree; the beast walks on the grass, so its hair looks like grass (this is also the study of the principles of things).
People have six senses: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body feeling and mind. Those of the six dusts: color, sound, fragrance, taste, touch, and method. Observe colors with eyes, listen to sounds with ears, roots and dusts are related, and consciousness is in it.
The same is the six senses, ordinary people use them to be six emotions, six entry, six feelings, six loves, and six thieves. If a bodhisattva uses them, it becomes six magical powers. So don't we still realize that the people in heaven regard water as colored glaze, and the hungry ghosts regard water as thick blood? Different time and space appear in different realms!
The human life span has changed from the past to the present
The sutra scripture says: When human being are in the increasing kalpa, human life span will start from a ten-year's life span, one year will increase every 100 years. This increases and ends at a 84,000 years life span of human life. From then on, human life span will be reduced by one year after every 100 years. This reduction continues and stops at a ten-year life span. After ten-year of life span, human being enter the increasing kalpa. It's like days are long and then days are short, the cycle goes back and forth, and never stops
The existing life and the life to be born will eventually abandon the flesh and leave this world. The sage knows that life will end in the end, so he practices the Dharma diligently.-“Short Life Sutra”
Feng Pingyu said: There is a person named Zhang Sixi who lives by working for people because of poverty in his family. He drifted to Wanquan Mountain and was taken in by an old couple to take care of their vegetable garden. The old couple likes Zhang Sixi's hard work, marrying his daughter and recruiting him as his son-in-law.
A few years later, the old couple said they would go to visit the eldest daughter outside the Great Wall, so Zhang Sixi also took his wife and left the old couple.
Over time, Zhang Sixi gradually discovered that his wife turned out to be a fox. He felt ashamed to be married to a different species, so while she was standing alone somewhere, he secretly shot her with a bow and arrow and shot her in the left leg.
The fox girl drew out the arrow with her hand, jumped in front of Zhang Sixi, pointed the arrow at him, and rebuked, "You are so ruthless. It is really hateful. I was ordered by my parents to marry you in accordance with the etiquette, there is a relationship between couple. Due to the constraints of the three guidelines, I do not want to avenge you. Since you despise me, I am not willing to reluctantly live and make you hate. “ After speaking, she cried bitterly while holding Sixi's hand. After a while, she suddenly disappeared.
Zhang Sixi returned to his parents' home and died of illness within a few years. But his family was so poor that there was no coffin for burial. His former wife, the Fox Girl, suddenly walked in crying from the outside, saw his in-laws, and told them in detail the story of her marriage with Zhang Sixi. She added: "I didn't marry again, so I dare to come today."
Zhang Sixi's mother was very moved and scolded Sixi for his bad. The fox girl bowed her head and said nothing. One of the neighbors woman felt upset and scolded Zhang Sixi. The fox girl stared at her and said, "It's okay for parents to scold their son. But how can you scold the husbands in front of his wife! " After speaking, the fox girl flicked her clothes and left, not knowing where she was going.
After the fox girl left, Zhang Sixi's parents found fifty taels of silver next to his body. Thanks to it, Zhang Sixi was buried. Later, Zhang Sixi's parents were very poor, but they often found money rice in boxes or pots by accident, which was probably given by the fox girl.
Listeners said that this fox girl not only transformed her body into a person, but also her soul. It is also said that even if the foxes know the etiquette, they can't reach this point. This is probably because Feng Pingyu deliberately fabricated a story to make people who are not as good as the foxes feel ashamed. Yao Angong said: "Although Feng Pingyu is an old man in the village, he is sincere and faithful. He has never said a word that is false in his life. Talking with him, he is very slow in speech, and he is not a person who can make up stories. "-Ji Xiaolan
There are eight incredible things in the sea:
1. The sea gradually becomes deeper, unlike the sudden deepening of cliffs and valleys;
2. The sea is always full without overflowing the shore;
3. The sea cannot tolerate dead bodies, and wash the dead bodies ashore;
4. Before entering the sea, all major rivers have their own reputations, and after entering the sea, they are called the same- the sea;
5. The rivers of the whole world flow into the sea at the same time, and the rain in the sky also flows into the sea, but the sea does not increase or decrease;
6. The sea has only one taste-salty taste;
7. There are various treasures in the sea;
8. All kinds of huge creatures grow in the sea.
There are also eight unthinkable dharma in the precepts of Buddhism vinaya：
1. Vinaya should be learned and implemented one by one, gradually becoming deeper like the ocean;
2. Buddha disciples do not violate the precepts because of the difficulty of survival, just like the sea is always full and does not overflow the shore;
3. The monks do not tolerate those who violate the precepts, and wash the dead bodies ashore like the sea;
4. No matter what race people, as long as they believe in Buddhism and hold the Vinaya they are Buddhists, and there is no longer a distinction between races and surnames, like rivers with different names flowing into the sea;
5. Bhikkhus enter the realm of Nirvana without surplus, and the realm of Nirvana does not increase or decrease because of this monk.
6. The precepts only mean disengagement, like sea water has only salty taste and no other taste;
7. Vinaya can produce many good dharmas, like many treasures in the sea;
8. Vinaya is where all kinds of practitioners live together. Practitioners of all levels abide by the Vinaya, just like the sea, there are all kinds of huge creatures.
-"Busa Sutra"
Purifying the words means no lying, no provocative words, no vulgar words, no flattery. If your words are purified, then your mind is purified, so purifying the mind starts from purifying your words.
Only by presenting righteous thoughts every day, full of vitality and free from the interference of troubles, can we have a truly valuable life. -“Dhammapada"
Only love can stop hatred:
There is a woman in Shawati city who raises a hen. Every time the hen lays an egg, the woman breaks the egg, which makes the hen very angry. Therefore, in the next life, the hen become a cat, and the woman become a hen. What's more, they both live in the same room. The cat ate all the eggs laid by the hen. In the next life, the hen becomes a leopard, the cat becomes a deer, and the leopard kills the deer and its children. The age-old hatred between the two continued to unfold. When the Buddha was alive, they became a woman and a demon again.
Once, when this woman, her husband and young son returned from their natal home to their home near Shawati City, they rested by the pond beside the road, and the woman’s husband jumped into the pond to take a bath. At this time, she recognized that someone was the incarnation of a demon, and that she was her feud for many lives. She hurriedly took the child and fled to the sutra house where the Buddha was preaching, and placed the child at the feet of the Buddha. The demon therefore cannot enter. The Buddha called the demons in and told them both: "If you two did not come to me today, your hatred for lives after lives will never end. Hatred cannot quell hatred, only compassion can halt hatred." Carefully. After considering the Buddha's teachings, the two realized that hatred is indeed useless, and admitted to each other's ignorance, they decided to put an end to the meaningless hatred that had been for many lives.
People who make others miserable in pursuit of their own happiness will be bound by aversion and cannot escape. ("Dhammapada “verse 291)
There is such a true story during the Guangxu period:
Mr. Jia from Jiangsu works in a foreign company in the Shanghai concession and is trusted by his boss. Before the Dragon Boat Festival, the boss sent him to the south of the city to collect the arrears, and he took a leather bag and set off.
Things went smoothly. By noon, more than 1,800 yuan had been collected. Mr. Jia walked for a long time and talked for a long time. He was already dry and exhausted. He just came to the teahouse of "Shiliupu", went in and drank some tea in a hurry, and hurried back for business, so that he could have a good rest.
When Mr. Jia returned to the firm, he found that the leather bag was missing. He was thunderous, sweating, and frightened, and he was even more confused in the panic. The boss saw him look flustered, speechless, and incoherent, thinking that there was fraud. So the boss sternly accused him of betraying the trust of his owner, and said that if he didn't return as soon as possible, he would be sent to court.
At that time, more than 1,800 silver dollars was a huge sum of money. If it is not squandered and it is enough for a person to use for a lifetime, how can Mr. Jia afford it? The responsibility is heavy, and it is difficult to tell. He feels that this life is over, weeping desperately.
Another Pudong native, surnamed Yi, was also in business in the concession. Due to bad luck, he lost everything, so he bought the ferry ticket for that day and prepared to cross the river back to the hometown. Because it was still too early to board the ship, he also came to the "Shiliupu" teahouse. he wanted to spend some time drinking tea slowly, so he could think about what to do in future life.
It happened that Mr. Yi arrived just when Mr. Jia left in a hurry. Mr. Yi just sat down and found a small leather bag on the chair beside him. He didn't pay much attention to it, and slowly started drinking tea. After a long time, no one came to take it. Mr. Yi was puzzled, and he felt heavy when he mentioned it. When he opened it, his eyes almost fell out of surprise: it turned out to be all shiny silver dollars!
Mr. Yi was pleasantly surprised! This is really a huge fortune. Not only can it change one's current state of poverty and deprivation, but it also has enough food and clothing for the rest of his life. But he changed his mind again: No, money is not his own. I can't take this money! If because I took the money, the owner loses his reputation and even his life, my sins will be great!
In those days, most serious people knew the truth that "unjust money cannot be taken". Mr. Yi thought to himself: Since I have found the money today, I should do my duty and return the property to the original owner.
When it was time for lunch, there were only eight or nine customers left in the teahouse. Looking at their expressions, none of them seemed to have lost money, so Mr. Yi had to wait hungry.
Waiting until the time of holding the lantern, the tea guest went home, only Mr. Yi is left, and he is still watching the people passing by intently...
Suddenly, he saw a person running towards here with a pale face and a staggering face. It was Mr. Jia who came here, followed by two people. As soon as he entered the teahouse, Mr. Jia pointed to the tea table and said to the two people: "That's it, I was sitting there at that time!" The three of them walked straight to Mr. Yi's table.
Mr. Yi could see that they were the owners, and he smiled and said to Mr. Jia: "Did you lose your money bag?" Mr. Jia stared at him in disbelief and nodded.
“I've been waiting for you for a long time," said Mr. Yi and showed them the leather bag.
Mr. Jia trembled gratefully and said: "You are really my great benefactor! Without you, I will hang myself tonight!"
It turned out that when Mr. Jia found that he had lost the money, he wanted to go back and look for it along the way. Although there was little hope of getting it back, there was only this way. But the boss was afraid that he would abscond and he was forbidden to go out. He spent a long time talking about it. The boss asked the two to accompany him, and the boss also asked the companion to take him back.
After the two reported each other’s names, Mr. Jia would give one-fifth as a reward, Mr. Yi decided not to; change it to one-tenth, Mr. Yi didn’t want it; change it to one percent, Mr. Yi was angry and stern Refuse.
Mr. Jia didn't know how to reward him, so he said, "Then I invite you to drink, okay?" Mr. Yi still resolutely declined. Finally, Mr. Jia said: "I do want to thank you from my heart! I will be waiting at the XX restaurant tomorrow morning, and I beg you to come here, see you then." After talking, he turned around and left.
The next morning, Mr. Yi actually came. Mr. Jia was about to give a gift and thank Mr. Yi again, but Mr. Yi thanked Mr. Jia first, saying: “ Thanks to your lost money yesterday, otherwise I will lose my life! "
Mr. Jia was surprised and was waiting to ask in detail. Mr. Yi went on to say: “ Yesterday I was originally scheduled to cross the river to return to my hometown. I have already bought the ferry ticket for one o’clock in the afternoon, because waiting for you to get the money delayed the ferry and went back to my residence. It was learned that the boat was overturned by the rushing waves halfway, and all 23 people in the boat drowned. If I got on that boat, wouldn't I also be killed? You saved my life! "After saying goodbye. The two are grateful to each other in a mess.
The surrounding guests were amazed at this, and they raised their glasses to congratulate them, saying that Mr. Yi's act of kindness saved two lives.
The story is not over yet. After Mr. Jia and the three of them returned, the boss was also very surprised when they said the matter, and said with emotion: "Such a good person is really hard to find!" I have to see Mr. Yi said the boss.
As a result, the two met very well. After a long conversation, the boss tried his best to retain Mr. Yi and hired him to take charge of the accounting. A few months later, the boss recruited Mr. Yi to be his son-in-law. Then simply leave the business to him.
The story of the impoverished Mr. Yi quickly spread. His integrity, benevolence and righteousness have won people's admiration. Merchants of all sizes have come to do business with him. His family's business has become bigger and bigger. Later, Mr. Yi has invested hundreds of thousands and became a local rich man.
