When the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana, he said to the monks: From now on, you should practice according to the Dharma and not according to a certain person. You should practice according to the original meaning of the Dharma and not according to the words. You should practice according to wisdom and not according to knowledge. You should practice according to the Buddhist scriptures that is thorough and final, not according to the knowledge that is not thorough and not final. - "Commentary on the Great Perfection of Wisdom"
Emperor Qinzong of Song was captured by the army of the Jin Dynasty to the north, and soon a peace agreement was reached, and Queen Xianren would be released. Qinzong held Queen's hand and cried, "If I can go back, even if I am an ordinary person, I will be satisfied, and there is no any other excessive hope for me ." The queen swore, "If I don't come to welcome you when I return to the south, I will be blinded." When the queen returned to the palace, Qinzong's half-brother became emperor, Song Gaozong. Song Gaozong had no intention of welcoming Qinzong back, and Queen Xianren was deeply disappointed, but she did not dare to persuade Song Gaozong too much. Soon she was blind. Queen Xianren searched everywhere for famous doctors, but they couldn't cure her. Later, a Taoist priest entered the palace, and with a stroke of a gold needle, her left eye suddenly became clear. The queen was very happy and asked him to treat her right eye again. The Taoist priest said: "The queen looks with one eye, and keeps one eye blind to fulfill the previous oath." The queen stood up in panic and thanked. The priest went away. [Press] If you make a promise easily, you will definitely be resented. If you make a poisonous oath easily, you will be punished by heaven. Queen Xianren couldn't fulfill her promise, not because she had the intention to break the oath, but because of the situation. If she could cry and plead in front of Song Gaozong, even if she couldn't reluctantly revert to the emperor's wishes, the queen would still live up to her heart. But she failed to do so, and she was blinded in one eye. Wasn't this matter not understanding the situation and punishing her lightly?-Excerpted from An Shiquan Book "Wenchang Emperor Silently Doing Good Virtue": One Eyed Oath
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Ma Yuan once admonished his nephew: "When you hear someone's fault, it's like hearing the name of your parents. You can hear it with your ears, but don't say it with your mouth."
Confucius, on the pleasure of benefiting people, must say: "It is a pleasure to praise the good deeds of others". Kind words and good deeds are not easy for people to do. As long as there is a little bit of good deeds, people will praise and spread it, then those who do good deeds will work harder to be kind, which is the meaning of being kind to others. Do not kill anything by yourself. Do not teach others to kill. Praise those who do not kill. Seeing others not killing, rejoice for him.
