A man named Zhou Shiyuan in Linchuan, Jiangxi, went into the mountain to pick tea. He was hooked on his clothes by thorns, his body leaned forward, and the thorns pierced into the flesh, bleeding.  Zhou Shiyuan thought that all his tea-picking companions would pass by, and would be hurt by the thorns. So he endured the pain and sat on the ground to pull out the branches of the thorns. He found that there was light under the thorns.  Look, it's an ingot of gold.  Zhou Shiyuan used this ingot of gold as his principal and became a wealthy man by selling commodities for three years.  -"Gradually Becoming Rich"

Li Guang, a famous general in the Han Dynasty, made numerous contributions to his army, but he was not given the title of Marquis. Li Guang once asked Wang Shuo, a famous fate and astrology scientist, for the reasons.  Li Guang said: "Isn't my fate supposed to be honoured Marquis?" Wang Shuo said: "General, please recall, have you ever felt unhappy in your heart for anything?" Li Guang said, "I worked in Longxi.  During the defense, the Qiang people rebelled. I lured and surrendered more than 800 Qiang people. After they surrendered , I killed them all. I regret it till now.” Wang Shuo said: “There is no disaster greater than killing the surrendered soldiers.  This is the reason why you can’t be honoured Marquis.” Later, in 119 BC, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty launched the Battle of Mobei. Li Guang followed Wei Qing on the expedition. Li Guang lost his way in the desert, delaying the opportunity to fight, causing Shan Yu, king of the enemy, to break through and escape.  After the Mobei War, the troops led by Li Guang reunited with the main force. Li Guang was condemned by Wei Qing for the crime of delaying fighter planes. He refused to be tried by military law and committed suicide in anger. He was over 60 years old at that moment.

All deeds are impermanent.  All deeds are suffering.  All dharmas have no self.

The family named Wang in Taiping County, Shanxi Province is the richest.  According to legend, Wang's ancestors had a scholar named Wang, who was trustworthy in words and deeds, but his family was very poor at that time.

Wang's career is teaching in a neighboring village.  At the end of each year, when the school is closed for holidays, he has no income, so he has to send his blue cotton jacket to the pawnshop to exchange for some money. When the school starts in spring, he receives his salary and redeem the jacket again.

Like this, Wang would mortgage the quilted jacket at the end of the year, and redeem the quilted jacket every spring, for several years.

One year, Wang went to mortgage the padded jacket again. The pawnbroker felt that his blue padded jacket was too torn, so he refused to use the padded jacket as collateral to give him money.  Wang asked the broker to check the accounts of previous years and said that he used this padded jacket as a pledge every year, and he would come to redeem the padded jacket every spring, and he never broke his trust.  But the pawnbroker refused him and drove him away.  Wang Mou lamented and said: "If one day I open a pawn shop and someone needs relief in an emergency, I will accept the dead body as a pledge."

Wang walked back angrily wearing his own padded jacket, his padded jacket was scratched by thorns on the way, and his heart felt even more uncomfortable.  He walked a few steps, and suddenly thought, seeing the New Year, there are many people coming and going on this road, and others will be scratched by the thorns, so he found the branches on the roadside as a tool to dig up the thorns.  While digging, he found a large hole at the root of the wattle, which contained a lot of gold.  He took the gold home, bought some paper in the beginning of the new year and brought the paper to the hole where the gold was found, and burned the paper to thank gods.

Wang used gold as his capital to open a pawnshop, the address is opposite the pawnshop where he used to pledge cotton jackets.

On the day the pawnshop opened, Wang still wore the torn blue padded jacket to express his gratitude to the gods.

When it was opening, the guys in Wang's store quarreled with others.  He came out and saw that someone was holding a dead baby as a pledge and wanted to exchange money. The guys quarreled about it.  The person who held the dead baby shouted: "Your master once promised to accept the corpse as a pledge!" After Wang saw it, he knew that the opposite pawnshop must have sent someone to provoke him.  So Wang asked: "I did say that. How much do you plan to change?" The person who held the dead baby said: "One tael of silver." Wang gave the person a lot of money.  The people in Wang's shop were both angry and mocking.  Wang took the dead baby to his back garden, digging the ground to bury it. When he was digging, he found a lot of gold in the digging place.

Since then, Wang has become richer and famous.  He always warned his descendants to persist in helping the poor tirelessly for life.  His descendants can stick to his family motto.

The man burst into gratitude and went back to the office’s house with the officer , and took the rice back to his own home.  When he returned home, he saw the bag of rice, and there was fifty taels of gold in it.  He was very frightened, and thought: "This must be the money that the officer put in to pay to the government. He lost this money to give me rice. Isn't it my murder!" So this person hurriedly took all the gold came to the officer's house, intending to return it to the officer.

The officer saw the gold and said: "My family is not so rich, how can there be so much gold? It must be a gift from God!" But that person resolutely refused to take the gold. Bhikkhus should sit alone, lie alone, not slack, walk alone, self-regulate, and enjoy the forest.

If you are really a monk, you should insist on practicing bravely.  People who are slack and do not practice will have many desires and troubles.  You should act bravely.

The Dhammapada Sutra says: "You should protect yourself, such as guarding the inside and outside of the border city. An instant cannot be skipped. If an instant is skipped, you will be crowded at the gates of hell and suffer from sorrow."  In an instant, eyes can see colour, ears can hear sound, nose can smell, tongue can taste, body can touch, mind can be different.  So in an instant, there is a sense of consciousness, then there is self, there are choices, there are gains and losses, happiness and sorrow. If the mind has attached to something, it is not in a peaceful manner. The instant of of a heartbeat is the starting point of a long journey (the journey of life and death).

There is a man in Wujiang named Liu Ziyu who has a fish pond.  Winter is approaching. Hundreds of newly hatched small carps gathered there. The two big fish hopped back and forth with small fish in their mouths and transported the small fish to  In the weir, they would rather fall to death.  Liu Ziyu saw this scene and sighed: "Animals love their children just like humans!" In front of Tang Gao, a lamp made of gold wire followed Tang Gao.  The county guard could see this lamp,  but Tang Gao himself didn't know it.  The county guard did not tell Tang Gao about this, but he respected Tang Gai in his heart for this reason.

After several days, Tang Gao came to see the county guard again, but the gold lamp was gone.  The county guard was surprised. He asked Tang Gao, "What have you done recently? Tell me frankly, don't hide it."

Tang Gao recalled and thought of something recently: a man owed money to someone else and could not repay it. He planned to sell his wife for money to repay the debt, but this man could not write, so he gave Tang Gao silver, and Tang Gai wrote a paperwork for the man to divorce and sell his wife.

The county guard listened, took out his own silver and handed it to Tang Gao, and said to him, "You should return the money to the man, and take back the paper you wrote and destroy it!" Tang Gao really went to return the silver and destroyed the paper.

When Tang Gao came back to pay homage to the county guard , the county guard saw the gold lamp appearing in front of Tang Gao again.  The county guard was very happy, and told Tang Gao that there was a gold  lamp following Tang Gao.

Each of us, in the past kalpas, all the bones together is higher than the highest mountain in the universe, and mothers’ milk we have drunk together is more than the sea water.

Due to the sin of killing other lives, even after klpas as many as dust, the killer and the murdered will kill each other as food, just like turning a wheel, and repeating.
